Fibers final project

Final Projects from students in Advance Fibers and Shibori Class.

Students showcase the techniques and skills they’ve acquired during the term. Final projects included some aspect of sewing. Also included was the pattern create by their parents during Parents Weekend. Students had a choice as to whether they wanted to create a pillow or wall hanging.

What I liked: Students also seem to be challenged by the sewing machine. But once they realize they cut the thread out and start over, there is a sense of relief.

What I like about Matylda’s piece: Advance work- batik on silk. Matylda started with a Shibori effect – “Storm” to give the piece a texture. And then she kept layering and layering the dye. This created a rich deep background that was not flat. She was surprised how many layers she did. Currently, she’s still coming up with a name. Any suggestions?
