Digital Media Arts and Design: This course provides an understanding of the use of Photoshop as an artistic tool. Exercises and projects will explore areas of customizing and combining tools, depth and perspective, and graphic elements (including text and paths), and will be based on effective production techniques, project planning, and the artistic principles of color theory, content, and layering. (Fall, Winter, Spring- students may enroll in one, two or all three terms)
Digital Media Arts and Design: Digital Art (F) This course covers the basic elements of visual language and design and introduces students to the possibilities of this emerging medium through the work of contemporary artists. Students will conceive of and create digital works of art, develop critical thinking skills and conduct research on topics related to technology in the arts.
Digital Media Arts and Design: Digital Painting (W) is an introduction to the use of the
computer as a painting tool. Studio experience will explore digital painting techniques as used for personal expression, production design, concept art, matte painting, and texture mapping.
Emphasis will also be placed on developing an aesthetic criteria for evaluation. Students will learn through a variety of lessons skills using Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and After Effects.
Digital Media Arts and Design: Digital Design (S) A foundation course for students who are
interested in developing communication skills in the area of two-dimensional design as it relates to computer based imaging. Fundamental design concepts, creative problem solving techniques and design principles and elements will be covered. Students will learn through a variety of lessons skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge and After Effects.
